London Hotel Workers and London Citizens launch Hotel Strategy, "Rooms for Change" at Parliament.

All London Hotel Workers branch members are invited to come to Parliament to help us, with London Citizens, launch the strategy to make London Hotels "fit for purpose" for for the 2012 Olympics.

The launch date is Wednesday 25th March in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House,Westminster from 6pm to 7pm. We will gather at the Westminster tube entrance opposite Big Ben from 5.20pm to 5.40pm and then walk the 50 yards to Portcullis House.

Our Parliamentary host is Jon Cruddas, MP. Jack Dromey the deputy General Secretary of the union will attend with Neil Jameson, lead organiser of London Citizens. Valerie Voak of the Citizens and Kevin Curran, Hotel Workers Chair will co-host the launch presentation.

Hotel Workers will give testimony about their problems at work. Case studies will be presented about the economic benefits of paying the London Living Wage, which is a key part of the strategy proposal.

Citizens from various organisations will lend support to the Hotel Workers and the Strategy.

The launch is the first step on the road to a "fit for purpose" London Hotels industry for the 2012 Olympics.

The Hotel Workers Branch will announce details of a prize for the first branch member to report to the branch a London Hotel (50 bedrooms plus) that pays all workers, including agency workers, the London Living Wage. Once verified the prize of £250 will be handed over.

This prize can also be won by any organisation that affiliates to London Citizens. The prize will go to the organisation.
